Exactly. Although my issues were over a year long — and on top of previous lesser, but still frustrating, issues with them — during which time I lost all faith in Apple, the final decision to buy the Chromebook and the Hackintosh was initially decided by price.

Even after all the nonsense I had to put up with, I was still looking at replacing the Macbook with an iMac and maybe an older Macbook…

But it was when I started looking at the price of a decent spec iMac, and comparing it with the price of a Hackintosh, that the decision was made.

And then I felt so relieved. To be personally — if not totally — free from Apple hardware, at least for now.
