Sorry Gavin, not sure where you 200 pounds from? The cost of AppleCare in the UK for a 15" Macbook Pro is 329 GBP, which is around 437 USD at present.

And AppleCare in the UK does not provide loaners.

Also, there is no cover for accidental damage in the UK either.

So it’s effectively just a paid replacement for what we have under the law. Yet more money in Apple’s pocket for no good reason.

I absolutely refuse to pay 329 GBP extra on top of a 3.3k laptop for what I have under law just because Apple want to lie about the law (which they did), refuse to do things they should have (and eventually did because they had no legal choice), and put in huge delays to piss me — and other customers — off. They act like they are above the law, and the EU will come down on them like a tonne of bricks about it one day — like they did when they forced Apple for pay around $15 BILLION USD in tax they avoided in Ireland.

Lovely company eh?

ps. if my Chromebook dies and I can’t get it repaired quickly or I need another, I’ll just buy one. I paid about 600 GBP or so for this model (even though they cost the equivalent of 337 GBP in the USA… yet another con) but I could get one for less than the cost of AppleCare.
