Sorry to hear you’ve had problems. I don’t think it would be fair to Alasdair to pass on his details to other people to be honest. He works in the UK too, not for US customers.
But the number I was given was EM992.
As I said in the article, I’ve yet to see them publicly accept it. But Alasdair told me it was accepted internally, and when I went to the Marbella (Spain) store the guy at the genius bar told me the same before I had even fully explained my problem. So unless there’s a big conspiracy to lie to me about the fault, it exists.
(And since they repaired it the noises have all stopped, both the creaks etc and the hollow metallic sound when I tap next to the touchpad — believe me, it’s like night and day).
In fact, here’s a video I made a few months ago showing the metallic sound the case was making — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nruCDii6xUE
And here’s one I just made now with the same - but now repaired- laptop — https://youtu.be/MLDg4W55pTQ
Spot the difference?
Apparently the fault is limited to late 2016 15" macbook pro with touch bar models (although whether I can believe anything I’m told now I’m not sure).
Good luck. Keep trying.
